PROJECT HARIYALI, the Mega Tree Plantation Drive
Members of Rotary Club of Calcutta Avyanna (RI District 3291) in association with its Interact Club of Birla Bharati organised a plantation drive on 19th August 2021, as a part of PROJECT HARIYALI, the Mega Tree Plantation Drive, jointly initiated by RI District 3291 and Rotaract District Organization 3291.
RC Cal Avyanna collected 125 tree saplings from the District which were then planted within the school premises by the Interactors along with the Club members.
The activity was steered by the Club’s Environment Chair, Rtn Shruti Singhania, and Secretary, Chandreyi Mitra, with the able support of the Club President and Principal Birla Bharati, Rtn. Apala Datta.
President Rtn Apala Datta started the event by highlighting the need for protecting the environment. She also spoke about the importance of the maintenance of the plants and requested the School Chair to allot duties to the students to maintain the plants.
IPP, Rtn Rajlakshmi Mohan, referred to ‘Vriksha Ropan’ of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. The project has been very well attended by the members.
This project has certainly created an impact on the children and made them understand the importance of planting and maintaining trees. This, in turn, is sure to inculcate lifelong values in the children.
